Description
This attractive France collection is housed in a Minkus album with spaces running well into the 1980s, populated by close to 1,500 different mint and used stamps. The first half of the 20th century is the strongest section, with mostly densely populated pages throughout, and the collection reaches all the way back to the very dawn of French philately with numerous Ceres issues - some of the most iconic and recognizable stamps in all of classic European philately.
Both regular and semi-postal sections are well represented, giving the collection meaningful depth beyond the standard definitive and commemorative material. Semi-postal coverage of this quality and consistency in a France collection is genuinely appealing to specialist collectors and adds real catalog strength to what is already a broad and well-organized holding.
Condition is generally Very Fine throughout, with mint stamps showing original gum. For the general collector, this lot offers a strong foundation across more than a century of French philately in a single purchase, with the Minkus album framework providing plenty of room to continue building into the modern era. For the accumulator or specialist, close to 1,500 different issues with strong classic era density and solid semi-postal representation is a practical and immediately usable France collection. Approximately one third of the album was photographed, covering material through the 1940s.
