Description
This massive selection brings together several thousand mint and used issues covering Austrian postal stamps from the dawn of philately in the mid-19th century through well into the second half of the 20th century. The material is organized in a Scott numbered stock book, opening with better singles including mint 43, 45, 58, 63, 326-339, and used 2, 33, 65, 145-163, presented on the first couple of pages. Collectors will appreciate the depth of classic material, while accumulators will find plenty to work through given the sheer volume involved.
Just when the selection seems to settle into the middle of the 20th century, it circles back with hundreds upon hundreds of additional 19th century highlights packed onto the stock pages. The combination of huge catalog value and moderate duplication levels makes this lot appealing both to collectors building their holdings and to those with an eye toward resale potential. Overall condition is F-VF or better, with mint stamps showing original gum.
