UNITED STATES – PREMIUM EARLY PERIOD COLLECTION – First Issue to Turn of Century – Here is a very impressive early period collection tracing US postal stamps from the very first issue through the turn of the 20th century, presented on densely populated album pages. While the early portion of the regular section is primarily used, the turn of the century Exposition issues like Columbians and Trans-Mississippi Expo sets are mint all the way to $5 and $2, though the dollar values on the Columbian page are mostly no gum while the Trans-Mississippi features gum on the back, providing genuine high-value material across both iconic sets.
The collection is further nicely enhanced by a very solid back-of-the-book portion, anchored by a particularly strong officials section, making this a well-rounded early period holding that goes beyond just regular issues. This makes the lot equally attractive to the serious collector looking to acquire a comprehensive early US foundation with premium Exposition sets and strong officials coverage and to the dealer or accumulator seeking high catalog value classic material across multiple collecting categories. Condition throughout is generally Fine to Very Fine or better, most mint original gum. Note that some stamps are placed out of album order.
