Description

This 43-pound lot brings together mint United Nations stamps, US first day covers, and mint postal stationery across a range of formats and collecting areas, making it a varied accumulation with something for nearly every type of collector.

The UN material fills four albums with quite a few stamps present, though many spaces where blocks would have been placed are unfilled. Several glassines tucked between pages hold additional stamps that just need to be mounted. The US first day cover section includes about 100 covers in a flip-style album, mostly ArtCraft cachets. The album contains what look like duplicates, but a closer look reveals real differences in stamp count and cachet type and color, making several of them distinct varieties worth sorting through. A homemade album organizes covers by historic event and topic. One page features two covers commemorating the Greater New York Golden Jubilee, including the First Constitutional Congress and Capital City of the World, each with matching stamps and cachets.

Loose items include mint postal stationery with 100 U571 and 50 U586, groupings of revalued Great Britain postal stationery, additional UN covers, and more. For the general collector, this lot covers several different areas of philately in one purchase. For the accumulator, 43 pounds of partially organized material offers solid working value right out of the box.
