Description
PORTUGAL & COLONIES – While nowadays Portugal is associated with holiday makers, good retirement options for expats, and record high waves appreciated by competitive surfers, but at the same time Portugal was the first transcontinental colonial empire, and this collection of couple thousand different mint and used stamps is a good testament to it! The collection runs from the very dawn of philately and into the last quarter of the 20th century presented in a Minkus album. Though Portugal proper accounts only for roughly 1/3, it includes a densely populated solid early period portion boasting such noteworthy standouts like: mint #34, 44e, 83, 88, 89, 90, 91, 102, 104, 346-376, 422-436, 437-452, 487, 595-602, 694-701, 731-734, used #6, 12-16, 19, 23, 24, 32, 35, 38, 39, 42, 43, 50a, 52-56, 74a, 76, 77, 85, among them and more, as the collection runs into the 1970s! However, bulk of this massive Minkus album is allocated to Portuguese colonial possessions running in alphabetical order from Azores to Timor covering the same period as the main Portuguese portion! Solidly populated all throughout! Gen. VERY FINE, mint og, some NH (we only photographed sample selection of some key sections, just a preview into this humongous collection)
