Description
CUBA – MASSIVE NATIONAL SELECTION 1855-1950 – Several thousand mint and used issues trace Cuban philately from the very dawn of the hobby in the middle of the 19th century through the mid-20th, combining a comprehensive regular section with an equally strong back-of-the-book portion on Scott numbered stock pages. Duplication is well controlled throughout, seldom spiking above a dozen copies and usually running well below that, with occasional glassines featuring several dozen copies of a particular stamp. The first half of the 20th century section stands out for its concentration of blocks and pairs, adding specialist appeal well beyond the standard single stamp representation.
The century-plus span, back-of-the-book depth, and presence of blocks and pairs across the early 20th century make this a compelling resource for the Cuba collector looking to seriously build out their album, while the Scott numbered organization and controlled duplication give the dealer or accumulator a well-documented lot with clear sublot potential across multiple eras and collecting areas. Condition throughout is generally Very Fine, mint original gum, many never hinged.
